Over the past 10 years since he launched his brand in 2003 winning the "Elle New Talent in South Africa, and being noted as the Best Designer by the Sunday Times in South Africa, this award winning designer David Tlale has proven that he is indeed a design force with creations that go far beyond expectations.

The year 2005 was a testimony of a great journey unfolding when Tlale was appointed "Head Designer for Carducci Woman" under the House of Monatic Group in Cape Town South Africa.

In 2007 Tlale focused on growing the David Tlale movement, and was one of the 4 young South African Fashion designers to be selected to present their Couture Collection during Paris Couture week. This was the turning point for the brand where Tlale began to view his brand through the eyes of the world.

2008 was a fruitful one for the David Tlale brand; a year in which Tlale: was voted the most stylish designer at the South African Style Awards, he was also voted Mzansi's South Africa's Star Designer of the year. Nominated for the Mercedes-Benzes Fashion and Art Awards along with many other accolades and nominations, Tlale was invited to judge the Elle New Talent competition a place where his journey in fashion began.

Tlale's proud moments of 2008 included Designing a show stopper Couture master piece for British super model Jordan Dunn at the closing show for Virgin Mobile Cape-Town Fashion Week. Chosen to be an ambassador for the Change-4-Ever campaign that aims to alleviate poverty in Southern Africa. Launched a Green Collection for the voluptuous women of Mzansi; including the likes of Judith Sephuma, Lebo Mashile, KG Moeketsi and Anele Mdoda.

2009 marked a turning point of the brand when Tlale won 'Designer of the Year" after show-casing his debut Spring/Summer 2010 Ready-to-Wear Collection that defied all expectations at Africa Fashion Week awards hosted by international super model Alek Wek. This Award afforded Tlale to debut his brand at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York Spring /2010 amongst other three African designers, courtesy of African Fashion International and Arise Mag.

The catwalk journey didn't only expose Tlale to the world but he has enjoyed PR, MEDIA exposure on both local and international coverage and showcase, taking the brand "David Tlale" to astronomic heights. His household brand that firmly stands its ground among an ocean of other labels, this being attributed to the sheer design erudition and precision that challenges mediocrity.

In 2010 Tlale continued his movement, he showcased at Mid-night the "Butter-Fly" Collection that blew the media, fashionistas, buyers and crowds away during the World Cup tournament at the Africa Fashion week 2010 Johannesburg "South Africa" his creativity lead to Tlale to be hailed the "King of Fashion in SA.

It was in 2011 when Tlale closed the "Iconic Nelson Mandela Bridge" in Johannesburg to present his Fall 2011 Collection with 92 Models comprising not only run-way models but, celebrities, sports personalities that make South Africa to be as colorful as it is; that completed the commemoration of celebrating Nelson Mandela's 92nd birthday in style… Later in the same year the South African Mint approached Tlale to collaborate his "Climate Change" Collection, and Minted a Coin in Tlale's Honor. Not only that, but closed part of the Mint to prepare for the spectacular Collection during the Africa Fashion Week that year.

Surely 2011 was the year that Tlale celebrated the opening of his 1st ever flagship boutique at the Michael Angelo Towers in Sandton, Johannesburg. This move re-affirmed that the "Tlale movement" goes on…

Tlale's daring and bold, his brand is the one that defies convention and impenitently employs unpredictable use and understanding craftsmanship, fabric, color and texture.

Exciting times continued when Tlale collaborated with "LEGIT" and designed a diffusion line {Van der Tlale} for two seasons Spring and Fall/12. The journey went on when Tlale was "NOT" on schedule for MBFW New York but, he presented his 1st solo Ready-to-Wear Fall/12 Collection at the South African Consulate premises in New York City during Fashion Week.

After he gained interest from the international media and customers, Tlale pursued to be on schedule and was accepted by IMG at Fashion Week. Tlale presented in September 2012 his debut Spring/13 ready-to-wear Collection at the Lincoln Centre in the BOX during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York; courtesy of the National Empowerment Fund in South Africa. These were moments of celebration and appreciation to "The Almighty", as Tlale was the 1st South African designer To show-case solo on schedule at fashion week.

As 2013 marks the celebration of the ‘Tlale decade” He continued to present his 2nd Collection at Lincoln Centre New York in February 2013 his “Decadence” Fall/13 Collection. Tlale took the “Decadence” collection on tour to South Africa and show-cased during the ‘Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Joburg’ in March 2013 and exhibited his works of art at the Gauteng Legislature Piazza, and Launched a hand bag range that is sold nation-wide in South Africa. Tlale will be continuing the tour in Angola in June 2013 and his “movement” goes on.
